Will Boulware was born on July 6, 1952 in Bardstown, Kentucky. His father
was a guitarist and his mother a singer. The Boulware family moved to Atlanta,
Georgia where Will started playing the piano when he was six. When he was
fourteen, he was already in an R&B group performing. He also played the
organ in a trio he formed and started performing his own compositions. In
1973, he turned 21 and went to New York where he quickly became one of the
central players in the jazz-fusion style. In the ‘90s, he became even
more active, participating as a member of The Maceo Parker Band and touring
with The Blues Brothers (1998), John Scofield (1999), and Carla Bley (2000).
He also performed with George Coleman, David Liebman, and Rodney Jones. On
this album, Will’s presence and leadership is unmistakable. The seven
members of the band got together because of him. They include Steve Gadd (drums),
Will Lee (bass), Michael Brecker (tenor sax), Randy Brecker (trumpet), Bob
Berg (tenor sax), Peter Bernstein (guitars), and Jon Werking (synthesizer).
Steve Gadd was born in 1945 in New York. His power and deft playing makes him the best fusion drummer in the world. He performed as members of the Brecker Brothers Band, Stuff, and Steps Ahead. He has become a legendary drummer who has kept all of his power.

Randy is four years senior to Michael. Starting with Blood, Sweat & Tears in 1966, he performed with many acts including The Horace Silver Quintet. He has played in both jazz and fusion and is considered a top veteran trumpet player. His expressive playing style is well respected.
Bob Berg was born in 1951 in New York City. He played in The Horace Silver Group in 1974, Miles Davis' Band in 1983, and Chick Corea's band in the '90s. He has a youthful, unrestrained style. He has performed with many different jazz artists from seasoned pros to newcomers. He started performing in New York in 1988 and is in great demand. He is certainly one of the guitarists to watch. Jon Werking was born in 1960 in New York. He played keyboards & synthesizers with sax player, Bill Evans, and with The New York Voices. He won critical acclaim from his musical direction, composition / arrangement, and keyboard playing for the Broadway production of "Fosse." He has written songs for commercials and films.
